Welcome to Arcimoto!

Arcimoto

When Ford Motor Company was founded 1903, there were no gas stations or paved roads. Transportation was muddy, and dominated by horse and train. It was through innovation that Henry Ford made his name. By designing a practical vehicle that used existing roads, and focusing on quality and affordability, Henry Ford changed the way America moved. The Model T was an incredible innovation when it was first launched in 1908, offering an attractive alternative to existing transportation options.

One hundred and one years later, we find ourselves in a different place and in a different environment. We need a new transportation solution that is affordable, efficient, and fun to drive. Today, Arcimoto is proud to introduce the Arcimoto Pulse.

The Arcimoto Pulse is a different type of vehicle that incorporates innovative thinking and engineering. It is a fully electric vehicle that does not require special infrastructure to run, and instead charges from a standard household outlet. It is a zero emission vehicle that will use lightweight TPO body panels, which can be constructed right here in Portland and are 99% recyclable. It is fun to drive, with incredible torque from its 96 volt power system and electric motor. And it is affordable, with a price of under $20,000- a price nearly equivalent to Henry Ford’s original Model T, which in today’s dollars would cost approximately $17,700.

Just as in 1903 when Henry Ford started his company, this is the time for a new era in how we drive. Arcimoto is proud to be leading the way in designing, manufacturing, and in just a few minutes, selling an affordable electric vehicle. At our facility in Eugene, each of our team members comes in with new ideas, hopes, and dreams about how we can change the way we drive. The Arcimoto Pulse is the culmination of many great thinkers, designers, and supporters. I would like each member of the Arcimoto team to please step forward. It is through your hard work and dedication that we have the Pulse today. Thank you. Please give them a round of applause!

We would not be here today without the support of many of you in the audience, chief among them Arcimoto’s founder, Mark Frohnmayer. Mark’s innovative ideas have propelled the company to where we are today and I trust that his thinking will continue to play an important part in our future. In addition, Representative Nancy Nathanson—a champion of Oregon innovation in Salem; Governor Ted Kulongoski, who continues to support the development of electric vehicles throughout the world; James Mast from the Portland Development Commission who has tirelessly organized the Oregon Electric Vehicle industry cluster; and finally, our friends and family who have put up with many late and sleepless nights. Thank you.

Today Arcimoto stands at the leading edge of the future of transportation in America. The car is as much a part of our culture as baseball and rock n roll. The Arcimoto Pulse will play a critical role as we change how we drive. The Pulse is a safe, affordable vehicle incorporating the latest technology and features.

In just a few minutes, we will be offering an opportunity for you to join Arcimoto in changing the way we drive. For a $500 refundable deposit, you can preorder your very own Arcimoto Pulse. In our first year of production, only three hundred vehicles will be built. All with a base price of under $20,000. As we continue to innovate and create a product that is truly worthy of Henry Ford and American innovation, you will see the future of transportation. And next year, we hope to see you here in your very own Arcimoto.

Driving an Arcimoto is not simply about driving the latest innovative vehicle and showing off to your friends and neighbors. It is about showing your dedication to our environment and your understanding of the dangers of climate change. If we are to fundamentally change the way we drive, to make our driving more efficient and sustainable, we must change what we drive. Driving an Arcimoto will do this. The Arcimoto Pulse is the latest in affordable, sustainable, fun to drive transportation.

"When Ford Motor Company was founded 1903, there were no gas stations or paved roads." Actually, the first paved streets appear to have been constructed around 4000 BC, in Ur. More recently, but still well before the invention or popularity of the automobile, stones, asphalt, and concrete have been used to pave roads since at least since Roman times.
But, it did sound good.
